Natalie’s relationship with Christ started when she was 8 years old. She has discovered that following the Lord isn’t just something we have to do. She believes that walking with God can be fun also! Natalie has never had a father in her life. That is who God is to her. He is her father and her best friend. Natalie shares that following God has helped her relationships with others. She appreciates that the quality of her relationships is based on happiness. Natalie also expresses her beliefs in repentance. She knows that sometimes she still sins. Yet she also believes that God’s love is enough. She knows that God loves her unconditionally. She even knows that her failures can help others to believe in God and believe in themselves.
“A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy dwelling.”
Joe describes how broken he felt when he came to know the Lord. Feelings of abandonment and being lost caused him to seek Christ. He knew very little about God. All he remembered were things he had heard over the years. His knowledge about God was nothing more than a distant memory. Today Joe can say that through prayer he feels the closeness of a relationship with God. He expresses how when he calls out to God, he feels that God truly hears him. Joe’s personal relationships have also been restored because of God. Once in Joe’s life, his own mother had abandoned him. But today, Joe has repaired the damage from the past. He is now welcome in his mother’s home and even has his own room!
There is very little we can be sure of in our lives. Yet there is one thing we do know. When we call out to Christ, He hears us. It is through the comfort we receive from His presence, that we have strength to persevere.
“The eyes of the Lord are too the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry”
Courtney shares that she was raised in a Christian household. She also shares that the pressures of high school caused her to fall away. One night she realized that she no longer felt she had purpose in her life. After becoming involved with a Christian organization, Christ’s purpose for her life became evident. It was at that moment she learned to serve and to develop her personal relationship with Christ. Courtney learned about the unconditional love of God. This is what motivates her in work, relationships and prayers today. She currently helps with young teenagers and the struggles they go through. Helping these kids have become part of the purpose God has placed in her life. God has a way of turning our struggles into what He uses for us to help others. Courtney is also involved in ministry with her church, one of those ministries is an outreach ministry that travels all over the world to preach the Gospel. Right now she is helping train a group that will be going to Guatemala in the summer of 2014.
“Direct your child on the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.”
Kyle was in jail when he first came to know the Lord. He expresses how God was revealed to him in a way he never knew. Kyle came to realize, while in jail, that he was a sinner. He also realizes he will always be a sinner. Yet also that Christ died for him. Christ covers not just the sins of his past. Christ covers him now and in the future. Through his relationship with God, Kyle sees Christ as his king. He sees a king that died for him. He sees his own life as a way to serve God, every day.
Christ is a restorer of relationships. Kyle has also felt restoration in the relationships he has with people close to him. He has people in his life that lead him to Christ. He has friends and family that remind him to pray and to read his bible.
Through meditation and prayer Kyle has felt the peace that surpasses all understanding. It is in these moments that he finds the ability to overcome trials. He is involved in video production and this is one of the purposes God has given him in his life. Through video production he is given the chance to bring glory to God and to show the world who Christ is.
“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
Drugs and alcohol lead Jill to finally surrender to Christ. She has come to know God in so many ways. She knows Him to be her friend. She knows Him to be her comfort while she hurting. She knows Him to be her healer and her counselor. Jill expresses the freedom she experiences when she prays to Jesus Christ. Her greatest desire is that others will see His love working through her. Jill has also found a family bond with others in her church. Through her intimate relationship with Christ, He has taught her to have meaningful relationships with other believers. She even goes on to say “The spirit is thicker than blood.” As Jill continues to go walk with God she also mentors other women. “ I do not call you servants for the servant does not know what his lord is doing, I have called you friends for all the things I know of my Father I have made known to you.”
Brad Jones shares his faith in Christ and shares about his relationship with God, who is not only his friend but also his strength. Each of us has a special calling on our life and each of us also has a unique relationship with Jesus Christ. Brad shares that it is through surrender to the call of God on our lives that we are given the ability to see the world through His eyes and to walk with Him daily, whether that means having faith that through trials and tribulations that God is working out and perfecting His will in our lives or simply asking daily, “Lord, what would you have me do for you today?”
Brad also shares that even through his failures he finds the way to fight through it and to always walk on the path God has laid before him, knowing that God is still working through him because he knows that whatever it is that he is led to do, it all for God and His glory.
Each of us walks daily with the Lord, and it is through sharing our struggles and our strengths with one another that we have fellowship and understanding and love as the body of Christ and we hope that through this, we can help to encourage one another and to help one another.
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you encounter trials of any kind and be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith brings out endurance and steadfastness and patience. But let endurance and steadfastness and patience have full play and do a thorough work so that you may be made perfect and lacking nothing.”
